The May 8, 2015Event, Washington, D.C.

Anticipation is building for an historic aviation event taking place in Washington, D.C., Friday, May 8, 2015 on the 70th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE Day). The Arsenal of Democracy World War II Victory Capitol Flyover is hosting a tribute involving over 50 World War II aircraft (warbirds) to the men and women at home and abroad who made victory possible, including those who built the planes, tanks, and ships.

The Flyover will include 15 historically sequenced warbird formations that travel across our nation’s capital—from the Lincoln Memorial to the Capitol. These formations represent the major battles of World War II, from Pearl Harbor to D-Day with a final Missing Man Formation. Be on the Mall from noon to 1 pm on May 8th and be part of this celebration and remembrance. It is a fitting way to honor our nation’s veterans and history 70 years from VE Day!
